Recruiting new connectors, a great start to 2016

CC advert FlintshireMy first working day of the New Year I was involved in recruiting a new Community Circles Connector.  We are delighted to have Carole working with us, who is our first Connector to be working in a primary school in Buckinghamshire.   We look forward to sharing our progress and learning.  Keep in touch with Carole on Twitter @CaroleC_Circles

January has continued to be a month of recruitment.  We are currently in the process of recruiting two part time Connectors in Flintshire, one post to be based with a home care agency and one post based with a residential care home.

The successful applicant needs to be a people person, enthusiastic about making a contribution, well connected in their local community, great at problem solving and generating creative solutions.  We want to recruit for values and are looking for someone who will be the best fit for this fantastic role.

Working LinksOne of the things that we have been really mindful about is sharing really good information about the role.  One of the first things we developed was a one page profile; could this be you…?  Would this, more than a person specification or job description, capture better the essence of the role?

Included in our recruitment pack, we’ve also developed a JobCentre Flintshire‘Day in the Life’ of a Community Circles Connector which captures the purpose, variety, delights and challenges of the role.  The feedback received is that this information has been really helpful.  Helen Sanderson shares more about person centred recruitment in her latest blog here http://helensanderson.net/2016/01/how-can-we-get-and-keep-great-staff-in-home-care/

We’ve had lots of support to share the recruitment posters locally, both via social media and on noticeboards, our poster has even become a local commissioners profile picture on Twitter!   Our local partners are also sharing the advert through their staff teams to pass on to family and friends.

So between local facebook groups, word of mouth, posters in local places from Costa Coffee to Community Centres and churches we hope to introduce our new connectors to you very soon and share more about the recruitment process.
